When visiting coffee shop, you would usually be offered with a menu that contains various types of coffee drinks. Each type in the menu various coffee brewing techniques. Some menus such as espresso, cappucinno and latte may be familiar to ordinary people. But even though it’s familiar, not everyone understands the mix contained in these menus.
Here are the types of coffee commonly found in coffee shops:
- Espresso
Derived from Italian which means fast. Espresso is obtained from the extraction of coffee beans that have been grounded by using high pressure machines. This espresso is extracted from coffee beans without mixture. Espresso is commonly served in small cups. Espresso has a very strong coffee content and a bitter taste.
- Americano
Americano is a blend of one shot espresso and hot water. The blending makes the bitter taste of americano less strong compre to espresso. Americano is liked by many people who do not favor strong espresso sensation.
- Latte
Latte is a drink obtained from blending espresso and milk, but with a comparison of more milk. Lattes are given foam from milk that has been steamed, making it referred to as a very milky coffee. Lattes are popular because foam in lattes can be drawn in a cute and unique shape or commonly known as latte art.
- Cappucino
The cappuccino blend is the same as the latte but with a different composition. Cappuccino has more milk foam composition, although the milk content is not as much as latte. But basically cappuccino is also a blend of coffee and milk which added foam from milk on the top. If a latte is called very milky coffee, then a cappuccino is called milky coffee.
- Cold Brew
Cold brew is a trendy term in recent years. Coffee shops that provide cold brew are growing. Cold brew itself is the name for coffee obtained by brewing coffee with soaking for approximately 18-24 hours using room temperature or cold water. In contrast to coffee brewing techniques that generally use hot water, cold brew is actually obtained from soaking coffee using cold water. Cold brew has a low acidity with sweeter taste.
